  • Assessment or “Mass Appraisal” is the systematic appraisal of groups of properties as of a given date using standardized procedures and statistical testing.

  • Property assessors are local officials who determine the value of a property for local real estate taxation purposes

  • The assessor determines the value of parcels within a city for property tax purposes

  • Valuations follows the standards established by the Minnesota Department of Revenue, State Board of Assessors and State Statutes

  • Assessors study construction, sales data and neighborhood trends to establish valuation standards in their work.

  • Assessors are licensed through the State of Minnesota

  • Accurate and equitable appraise and classification of property

  • Assist and explain the appeal process if a property owner disagrees with their estimated market value or classification

  • Determine the current classification and use of properties

  • Provide information and feedback to taxing authorities
